Students can expect to dedicate 3 to 5 hours per week for online moduleassignments and to participate in 12hrs live in-person hands on practice that includes a final assessment, trainees’ will be required to develop and facilitate a Sound Bath & Guided Meditation. There will also be opportunities to play at events to build your confidence and build community after your certification. *Instruments are not required.

Free Community-Wide Peer Support Event

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, MentalHappy presents a Community-wide Support Group event led by Dr. Tanya Younger-Gilbert

Researchers have noted there is a link relationship between self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger. These conditions are complex, multi-dimensional constructs with multiple sources widely recognized as a central aspect of psychological functioning and well-being and are strongly related to various psychological issues, lower academic achievement, substance abuse, loneliness, teenage pregnancy, and criminal behavior.

During this in-depth 90-minute peer support group discussion, Dr. Tanya will lead the group in a talk explaining the link relationship between self-esteem, depression, anxiety, and anger.

  • There will be 30 minutes for Q&A and 15 minutes of open discussion from the attendants.

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between depression and anxiety.

  • Relate anger to depression and anxiety.

  • Understand the strategies required for managing different types of anger.

The goal here is to have fun and release the natural “happy drug” in a way that improves your health. This is for any and everyone no matter your age, physical ability, coordination - just have fun!

We will begin with an opening from Dr. Tanya Gilbert explaining the benefits that dance and movement has on our mental health. Then, Jenzi Russell will lead us in a slowed down, sensual dance that everyone can do and enjoy. Dr. Tanya Gilbert will close with a meditation to prep us for an enjoyable weekend!
